2024's Calling, and Comfort Ain't on the Menu!

Guess what!? It’s My BIRTHDAY!!!

And though I am preparing for a month-long celebration!! I am here to drop a truth bomb for 2024 on ya’ll. We all got those New Year's resolutions tucked away, whisperin' promises of "new me, who dis?" But I'm here to tell you something: if you're praying for comfortability and transformation at the same time, honey, you're setting yourself up for a spiritual flip-flop. Now, before I dive in, I want to give credit where credit is due; my Pastor said something similar during our New Year’syear's Eve service, and I immediately knew I was going to write about it, post about it, pray into it, and walk it out this year! So, I thought I Would share it with you!

Let's be real. We're women of color, navigating a world built on expectations that don't always fit our curves, dreams, our truth. We juggle careers, families, and societal pressures like nobody's business. And in the midst of all that, this sneaky little voice is whispering in the back of our minds: "Girl, just find a comfy corner and coast through." Girl, quiet that voice and “stand on bizniz” this year lol

Transformation ain't about snugglin' up in complacency. It's about bustin' out of our comfort zones, burning them down, stretching our wings, and shining bright! I know it’s scary, but what’s even scarier is playing it safe! Please tell me where playing it safe has gotten you so far. Shed the skin of fear and self-doubt that doesn’t serve us anymore, and trade those sweats for stilettos… Or kitten heels if you prefer, no judgment.

Think of it like this: you wouldn't pray for a delicious, juicy peach and expect it to stay perfectly round and fuzzy on the tree. That peach gotta weather the wind, feel the sun's kiss, and maybe even get a little pecked by a bird or two. But through that process, it transforms into something even sweeter, even more vibrant, even more peachy.

So, let's stop wishing for a transformation spa day with cucumber water and fluffy robes or a transformation birthday cake where all we gotta do is make a wish and blow out the candles. Let's grab our prayer shawls, journals, and fiercest outfits because 2024 is the year we embrace the metamorphosis. We ain't afraid of the storms that might shake our branches because we know that there's a whole orchard of possibilities waiting to bloom on the other side.

As a birthday gift to me:

  • Get real with your desires. What are you praying for? Don't just whisper vague wishes. Dig deep, sis! What truly sets your soul on fire? What makes you wanna leap out of bed every morning'? Once you know your "why," you can chart your course to transformation.

  • Let go of the limiting beliefs. We all got those inner critics whisperin' "you can't," "you're not enough," and "better stick to the script." Girl, shut those voices down! You were built to soar, not shrink.

  • Embrace the discomfort. Change is messy, y'all. There will be days when you wanna crawl back into bed and hide. But remember, the discomfort is just the chrysalis stage. It's the process that makes your wings stronger and your colors brighter.

  • Seek your tribe. Surround yourself with women who understand the journey. We gotta uplift each other, share our struggles and triumphs, and remind each other that we're not alone in this beautiful transformation.

So, let's make 2024 the year we rewrite the script. Let's turn our prayers for comfort into roars for growth, our doubts into fuel for our fire, and our fears into stepping stones to our wildest dreams. Remember, this ain't about shrinking' to fit expectations. Transformation ain't a straight line. It's a wild ride, full of twists and turns, moments of doubt, and days of dazzling clarity. You'll stumble, you'll cry, you'll curse, but trust me, your resilience is a force to be reckoned with. And Besides, I am right here with you! Let's slay this year together!

With love and fire in your corner,

The Birthday Girl

P.S. Share your fears, your dreams, and your transformation stories in the comments below! Let's build a community where we can uplift and inspire each other every step of the way. We got this!
